Born as Edna Rae Gillooly, Ellen Burstyn is an actress of American origin. Burstyn made her debut in 1956 when she appeared on ‘The Jackie Gleason Show’. The actress debuted on Broadway in 1957 with the play ‘Fair Game’. After appearing in several minor film roles and guest roles in television series, Ellen landed her first major role in the film ‘Goodbye Charlie’ in 1964. In the year 1970, Burstyn starred in ‘Alex in Wonderland’ and ‘Tropic of Cancer’ both of which garnered her huge fame and recognition. She went on to do films like ‘The Last Picture Show’, ‘The Exorcist’, ‘Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore’, ‘Providence’, ‘Resurrection’, ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’, ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Lucy in the Sky’.
